DON’T MISS THIS ONE!
If the average person were asked to name one of Noel Coward’s plays, the odds are the reply would be “Blithe Spirit”.
It is one of his best known successes and is evergreen.
It is, in fact, one of those plays that you just have to see on the legitimate stage, otherwise you have to look blank when conversation gets around to the subject of plays and entertainment in general.
You are in luck – the Townsville Theatrical Society is staging “Blithe Spirit” at the Theatre Royal on November 25 and 26 – that’s next week. Don’t miss it: it’s a streamline version. I have repeatedly told you that the acting talent in the city is definitely on par with the best repertory acting in Sydney and Melbourne. This Townsville Theatrical Society has produced plays which I would have staged in any capital cities and got packed houses for every performance. Don’t miss “Blithe Spirit”.

the article above reads:
Townsville Acclaims “Blithe Spirit”
Last night’s presentation of Noel Coward's “Blithe Spirit.' by the Townsville Theatrical Society, swept along at a spritely pace, and is a commendable effort to interpret a first-rate modern play.
Coward's crisp, adult dialogue kept the large audience highly amused, and the players interpretation of his characters drew frequent applause.
Janice Hamilton brought Madame Arcati to life as an amazing but fascinating person. Ably made-up, her smile is something to be remembered.
Roy and Jean Holliday appear creditably as the harassed Charles and Ruth Condomine. They quarrel excellently.
As Elvira, ethereal but fundamentally so earthy, Irene Mann drifts ghost-like around the stage.
The comparative smallness of the stage does not give the navy-type maid Edith (played by Rita Jill— the producer) scope for her “at the double” activities.
William Spencer plays the pompous Dr. Bradman, and Norma Sundstrup is his bright, talkative wife.
'Blithe Spirit' is good entertainment and will be presented again to-night at the Theatre Royal.
