Built in 1877 by the Townsville School of Arts Committee and sold 12 years later to the State Government to become the Supreme Court. In 1987 it was threatened with demolition by the State Government but a community outcry resulted in a reprieve. After a battle over access to the building said to be the oldest timber concert hall in Australia, it was to be assessed to see if it could be restored for use as a community music centre. It caught fire and was destroyed before this could happen.
