Townsville Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Centre

The Cultural Centre opened in Townsville in August 2005 and is a world-class attraction hosting a unique collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, culture and history.
It was situated in the Reef HQ Building on Flinders St East next to the Museum of Tropical Queensland.

The Cultural Centre is a place to preserve, celebrate and display traditional cultural artefacts, dance and language, in addition to promoting contemporary performance and art that is created by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

A variety of informative and appealing activities are provided by the Cultural Centre, these include interactive cultural workshops, didgeridoo workshops, dance performances, group tours, and a selection of fascinating exhibitions.

The Cultural Centre contains an Interpretive Gallery, housing an exclusive collection of historic and contemporary artefacts along with information that has been collected from within the Northern Region.

Performances by both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are seen at the Centre.

The Centre permanently closed in late September 2015.
